Patrol and Enforcement

Our sanctuary wardens patrol 16 hours – 7 days a week to ensure the area is protected against possible offenders. Wardens are community fishermen dedicated to preserving marine life in the sanctuary.

In 2019, our strong relationship with the Marine Police resulted in the prosecution of X number of offenders who were tried in court and fined X amount for their breaches.

We also have many vigilant people on land who call our hotline (number here: 876-XXXXX) when they see an offence.

Borders and Buoys

Protection of the sanctuary also means that its borders need to be clearly marked and visible for those at sea and on those on land. X number of buoys have been established and are regularly maintained to ensure that there is no mistaking the sanctuaries boundaries.
